What’s Happening on Montrose Boulevard?

There is a very impressive plan in the works to revamp Montrose.

The project has four phases:

· Phase One (Organization) was completed during 2006 and 2007.  It included such things as corporate/legal/tax exemption, project master plan, stakeholder commitment, and City approval of “adopt an esplanade,” with expenditures of $29,000.

· Phase Two (Program Development) is taking place currently and includes landscape maintenance, outreach to neighborhood property owners, and civic associations, and the completion of a demonstration project, with anticipated expenditures of $140,000.

· Phase Three (Project Implementation) will occur in 2009-2010, and includes design, construction, and maintenance expenses/reserve at an anticipated cost of $4,700,000.

· Phase Four (Transition) includes establishing stewardship and transferring it to HCID #6 is scheduled for 2010-2012 at a cost of $410,000.

The Montrose Conservancy is asking local civic associations to support this privately funded project with resolutions of support, and, perhaps, a token donation.  Should this come to fruition, it would certainly improve the quality of life in the neighborhood (not to mention property values).
